Sweet! Let's solve some murders.
"implemented stuff"
this commit is going to be disgusting, i went off and wrote a whole new sound system, asset library manager, sound effects manager and event resolver, and refactored the entire floppy drive controller, without ever committing anything.
i'm…
Speaking of drive sounds, my full-height Tandon drive arrived today, so I can go about trying to record a new sound-effects set from the OG IBM 5.25" diskette drive.
Maybe then everyone can stop telling me it sounds like a 3.5" drive
I still need to tie the new sound-effects system into the debugger so that that the 'motor on' sound shuts the hell up when the emulator is paused.
I gotta say the floppy drive sounds are growing on me. It's just neat hearing the hiss and the seeks as a game loads.
So with that I have successfully un-fucked my FDC, I think.
Now I just have to refactor the entire thing again to make it completely flux-based.
No, really. But at least the general shape of things is more or less correct. It will be…
Bit 5 is what we're looking for. We need to set this bit because we encountered a bad address CRC.
Right now i'm setting bit 2, saying I can't find the data field, which is arguably true, but that's just not correct in this case.
So what value of ST1 should we return when we read Sector 96?
If only someone had written a handy dandy Floppy Drive Controller reference.
oh wait
The deleted part is really a red herring. A sector with a bad address CRC cannot be read at all, deleted or not.
Also the bad data CRC shouldn't be reported either, because the bad address CRC makes the controller not even bother lookin…
Sector 96 has a bad address CRC, a bad data CRC, and is deleted to boot.
That is why it is Very Red.
