Reminder: the May PostgreSQL minors (18.4, 17.10, 16.14, 15.18, 14.23) fixed 11 CVEs, four at CVSS 8.8, including a refint stack overflow that runs code as the OS user.
"Old news I never applied" is still an unpatched RCE. Patch.

PostgreSQL 19 Beta 2 shipped July 16. GA is projected for Sept/Oct, so the time to run your workload against it is now, while bugs can still be fixed before release.
Build it, point a copy of real traffic at it, file what breaks. Don't run a beta in production.

PostgreSQL 19 lets you turn data checksums on (and off) on a running cluster with one function call: SELECT pg_enable_data_checksums(). No offline pg_checksums pass, no multi-hour outage to get corruption detection onto an old cluster.
It isn't free: you pay in WAL and background I/O during conversion, with cost_delay and cost_limit to throttle it. That still beats a maintenance window measured in

Laurenz Albe traces a customer's OOM kills and failed autovacuum forks to tens of thousands of tables: each long-lived connection's catcache/relcache grows as it touches them. …
