Looking back, I can't help but notice that some math started getting easier for me to think about somewhere around the time I stopped being a formalist. An interesting coincidence... Seeing another post go viral that says something along the lines of "I was confused by math until I realized it's just programming with more confusing syntax." I think at some point I'll write a blogpost about why that's a misguided and mo… ★ 3 Among other things, I think this gives a good opportunity to organize type errors in a nice way. We will see! ★ 1 My (fairly ambitious) goal for this is for it to eventually be a tool for learning about using proof assistants. But I think it will also be interesting to see how it feels to use something like this in general, even apart from that goal. ★ 1 Spotlight has gotten so much worse. It's pretty much unusable for me at this point, between how slow it is and how bad it is at finding what I want. Switched to Alfred yesterday, which seems a lot nicer so far. I really only want to use it… ★ 1 It seems to me like we should teach most people some amount of the fundamentals of the philosophy of math. I think it could help with some common confusions. Like confusion related to the nature of mathematical truth and "where does math c… @chrisamaphone I just watched your talk on polarity and focusing. It was really nice and clear. Thank you. Near the end, you mention being interested in the connection to pedagogy. I was wondering if you had recommendations for what to loo… ★ 1 Overleaf has such strange bugs in its vim emulation. If I use daW (but not daw) on a `:`, it'll skip past it and delete the word after. But using daW on a word without `:` will delete the word as expected. Repeating commands with `.` tends… ★ 1 Hades II is really fun. I like their version of Scylla, hah Okay, I *think* I see the basic idea for how fibrations work when you're looking at the semantics of dependent types. The base category would be contexts and simultaneous substitutions, and the total category would have types-in-context an… ★ 2 Grad school is so difficult and stressful. ★ 1
