Here's what I was working on over the weekend: Winter Solstice Tree, a small re-edition of 7 for my brother-in-law's Winter Solstice Party. The door is the front of the little folio; inside are the beech tree, creatures, and empty nest waiting for the solstice = shorter nights and hope of spring ahead. In the back will be a pocket w/ poem in it. The images are my collages, scanned and printed x5

Hi! I haven't been here for a while; I've been traveling in Spain and then NYC. Here's a gift from Madrid, a stunning bookbinding on display at the Arte del Libro museum made by Vicente Cogollor Mingo in 1964. #bookart #BookArts #BookHistory

Happy #MakerMonday ! I'm still working on the same thing as last week. I'm making 7 of these folios that I call "Winter Solstice Tree." I love love love making multiples! Next, I will glue on the spine and back pocket where the poem goes. Shout out to #BookArts and #BookHistory friends.

Happy New Year! Happy #MakerMonday! Here are some greeting cards that I made with marbled paper. My idea was to make a composition on the water like a painting and then catch it on paper at the right moment! These 4 are called (left to right): Dryad 1, Dryad 2, Morphospace, and Geometry in Motion. #BookArts

"Open an Old Window" is the name of this piece of #mailart for the Triangle Book Arts postcard project. It's based on a photo I took last year at Gaudí's astonishing Casa Battló in Barcelona. I wrote a poem to put on the back.

Greetings on #PoetryThursday! This morning I loved "Brown Estate, 2018 Tempranillo" by Cortney Lamar Charleston on Poem-a-Day from Poets.org. (Really worth signing up for!) What a graceful use of the sonnet form--almost invisible, but t…
"Hope is round, an apple in a lunchpack on the kitchen counter,/
A birds’ nest, a candle lantern, a ready bowl."
From my own poem, "The Road Home." In the original it actually says "Hope is a round," but in a short quote that sounds odd! …
Following up on my previous #MakerMonday #BookArt post, here are 4 more marbled-paper cards. Titles are Orange Flow, Green Flow, Light and Water, and Topography. I made the cards by scanning and printing the art at reduced size; I trimme…

Happy #MakerMonday! I finally tried using a handmade brick to help me cut book board, and it sure did help my hands. A handmade brick is esp great for holding down the ruler because it has no holes and so is super heavy.
Orion magazine recommends 14 #poetry collections for Winter 2022. I think I will like these.
