AJAY C’s journey in music began in the early '90s, sparked by discovering his brother’s cassette collection, which introduced him to iconic gangsta rap artists like Ice T, NWA, and Public Enemy. Around this time, AJAY began frequenting Glasgow’s renowned underage club scene, experiencing legendary venues like Archaos, The Sub Club, and The Tunnel. This early exposure to the dance music scene, paired with a passion for vinyl collecting, inspired him to acquire his first set of decks at 16. As AJAY immersed himself in Glasgow’s vibrant club culture, particularly at The Arches, he developed a lasting passion for trance, house, and techno. Week after week, he was drawn to the sounds of pioneers like Mauro Picotto, Ben Sims, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, and Robert Hood, who profoundly influenced his vinyl choices and ultimately shaped his style. With over 30 years of experience in electronic music, AJAY now leads his own techno brand, TAIKANO, where he regularly curates events that highlight emerging and established talent from around the globe. His events have set the stage for groundbreaking artists such as Trym, DJ Rush, Fatima Hajji, and DJ Assault, while his dynamic, versatile style consistently energizes dance floors across Glasgow and beyond.
