Beyond The Rules is a sports and culture podcast told through the lens of officials/umpires/coaches.It explores games and sports “Beyond the Rules” and provide insight and perspectives that usually remain untold. The mission is for officials and coaches to have a place to speak their minds and talk about officiating/coaching from their view.BTR is hosted by creator Stephen Batista who is also a varsity level umpire and wrestling official.Curtis Dugar, a division 1 NCAA umpire is a frequent guest who lends his expertise and knowledge on the craft. Curtis’ knowledge of what it takes to be an umpire goes well Beyond the Rules.“Talkin’ Shop” is a series that features Carlos Dolmo. A good friend and mentor to host Stephen, the two let it all out with great candor and pull the curtain back with anecdotes and road stories on being an official.Stephen also delves deep into the lives of other officials, coaches, assignors and everyone involved in sports as they all talk about the love of the game “Beyond the Rules”.
