About

In the early spring of 2023, Lars Fjeldsøe-Nielsen, a London based tech-investor, traveled with his mother and brother to Angola in search of their past and a way to give back to their homeland. The family's history in Angola was abruptly cut short in 1975 when the civil war broke out, forcing them to leave behind their home and the grave of their sister, Else, who died in Angola in 1972. This podcast tells the story of their return — with a mission to find Else's resting place and to positively impact the country by helping fight Malaria, a deadly disease that has plagued Angola for far too long.As they travel through Angola, the Danish-Angolan-Portuguese family is welcomed by a new generation of energetic and optimistic people in Angola, while they travel through a country still reeling from the long-term effects of a decade-long civil war and the emotional journey of confronting their past. But with their shared determination to make a difference and honor the memory of their lost sister, they press on.Join us as we follow the family's journey, from their initial preparations in London to their travels through Angola, as they seek to make a lasting impact on a country that holds a special place in their hearts. Through their experiences, we'll explore themes of family, legacy, hope, and how small actions have the power to make big changes. We are raising £200,000 to Fund Research to Fight Malaria in Angola – In Memory of My Sister Else. Please help us with your donation.
