@aocinthehouse speaks on the current budget reconciliation bill being debated in the House. The proposed bill would cut over $700 billion in funding for Medicaid, which would in turn cause nearly 14 million people to lose access to health coverage. Congress is proposing $715 billion in Medicaid cuts—the largest rollback in the program’s nearly 60-year history. During a six-hour-long House Oversight and Budget Committee hearing last Wednesday, lawmakers debated policies on sanctuary cities and immigration enforcement. When Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) tried to blame immigration for public safety concerns, Wu flipped the script—calling out Congress for failing to act on real issues that actually impact safety.
