The Future Fund does a good job handling hundreds of billions in government $$ but this doesn’t mean they should spend taxpayer money for their own expenses in a cavalier way. I have real questions about whether the decision to send support staff to the United States travelling business class to scope out hotels for a board trip is in line with community expectations.

Senate Estimates allows senators to scrutinise how government is spending taxpayers' money. It's frustrating and not good enough when an agency doesn't answer a question they know the answer to, say they will answer it on notice then don't, then don't know why they didn't answer.

The science of climate change is not just a dinner table conversation. It's about the people and places we love. I'm concerned the government is approving new fossil fuel projects against advice from scientists and expert bodies when we have enough gas for the transition and countries like Japan are now exporting more gas than we send them. Why is the govt turning a blind eye to trading partners on-selling our gas at a profit while 🇦🇺 households + businesses pay record prices for our own gas?!We

The changes to environmental law that will pass the parliament today are a step forward, but they're not enough to ensure that the decline in nature will be halted and reversed. We need bigger changes to ensure we hand thriving ecosystems on this continent to future generations.

We have to start to have the hard conversations, and it's our responsibility to lead by example and do it in a mature and respectful way. We saw the worst of the Senate this week. These stunts have real world consequences beyond the halls of Parliament. We can and must do better.
