The Truth HXC is Playa Del Carmen

We’re doing it again. In collaboration with Outcast Productions we are bringing French black gaze masters Celeste to Cancun Mexico at the awesome Cervecería Leon on September 20. While there are a ton of great metal and heavy band in the Yucatán Peninsula, this band combines elite technique with heart pounding emotion that will take the concertgoer to both heaven and hell. I expect this to be one of the best shows in the region this year.

One of the hallmarks of a good song is that it captures a time and place. ‘Playa Del Crimean’ by The Truth HxC definitely does that.

The last in my series from this acoustic alt country punk show at Playa Del Carmen’s Civil Sin comes Country Dog. Besides having a top tier name, he was so surprising in how he combined Mexican cowboy tunes with a punk edge. Certainly did not have this on my bingo card this year.

A song we all need to pay attention to…Chuck Cole’ voice and message resonated deeply with me and the crowd. I used to really be into alt country and this is the reason why: hardscrabble tales that use the food of real life. I know where the power lies…sometimes you just need to hear someone else say it.

This was one of the fullest and most vibrant shows I’ve seen in Playa del Carmen in my whole time here. I had a friend kept referring to Jessy Bulbo as viral but research revealed she was a riot girl punk innovator: the crowd of mostly femmes certainly treated her that way.
