I’ve been obsessed with Egypt since I was a kid, and I was reminded that genuine passion for a place always finds its way into the photo. I went back to the pyramids five times before I finally felt like I’d captured them in a way that did justice to what I felt standing there. Since photography became my job, I often have to rush through the motions. It’s common for me to leave places feeling unfulfilled, knowing I didn’t do them the justice they deserved. Egypt put something in motion for me.
