As you may know we had an accident that sidelined the shop for a bit and I broke 3 vertebrae, but we’re finally getting back into a rhythm with a custom order of 2 knives. Today we’ve got Daniel on the 45 amp plasma cutter, carving out a custom knife profile from an old plow sweep. This is some of my favorite high-carbon scrap to repurpose. The newly fixed 55kg power hammer is an absolute beast, which means our old tooling is officially the weak link. My son and I were drifting the eye for a custom heavy warhammer today. The machine hit so hard it completely bent our solid steel drift into a curved tooth. We tried to heat it up and beat it back straight on the anvil to save the run, but once the steel is compromised like that, the hammer is just going to bend it again.
