So it turns out you can get Heroforge to spit out sufficiently monochrome images as to make them laser-engravable. A quick bit of geometry to build a standing base, and off you go. Total production time about 30 seconds.

Two of my current ongoing games are in this format. I got started with MUDs in the early 90s so I'm fluent in the conventions, but this is excellent advice for anyone who's never tried it.
